George and Cindy Anthony have asked to see their daughter, Casey, before the young woman’s murder trial begins, WKMG-Channel 6 reported tonight.
Jury selection is scheduled to start Monday. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
“I am told her parents are waiting for her to decide whether or not they will have a video visitation,” WKMG’s Tony Pipitone reported. “Defense attorney Jose Baez was made aware of the parents’ request this week, and so far, George and Cindy Anthony have not heard back from their daughter’s attorney.”
The parents’ attorney, Mark Lippman, told WKMG that he would fight the release of video of such a visit. But such a fight depends on whether Casey agrees to see her parents at the Orange County Jail.
The last such video visit for the Anthonys was August 2008.

***WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing studied George and Cindy Anthony’s request to be in the courtroom and not be sequestered during the trial. Retired Judge O.H. Eaton Jr., the station’s legal analyst, said, “I don’t think they have any right to be there if the rule of sequestration is invoked.” Next of kin are allowed in the courtroom, but that doesn’t include extended family like grandparents, Eaton told Kealing. If the motion had been filed in his court, Eaton said, he would have denied it without a hearing.
***WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich said Chief Judge Belvin Perry’s ruling on air tests could come down on Wednesday. “This could be a landmark decision, so Chief Judge Belvin Perry is taking his time,” Belich said.
WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl called the Anthony case “the most anticipated murder trial in Central Florida history.”
